Getting Started with Zoom

I've signed into Clever and Zoom and set up each site using the NB28 Zoom Resource website. Now what?

Announce Your Meeting

You need to let your students know you will have a zoom meeting with the date, time and password. Use this template to create a poster to post in Google Classroom or Seesaw. (You will need to download this keynote from google drive in order to open it and customize it to your needs.)

This video shows you how to customize and save the visual as a jpeg.

Of course, if you are emailing parents, you can also make the announcement there with the date, time and password and the reminder to use Clever to get to the zoom meeting.

Share Screen from the Laptop

After your initial Zoom meetings have started, you may wish to share a visual during a Zoom meeting. Maybe an Active Inspire flipchart, a Keynote, or even just an activity in Seesaw or Google Classroom.

If this is the case, you may need to alter the settings in Zoom first.

1. Go to zoom.us on your laptop.

2. Find settings.

3. Make sure disable desktop/screen share for users is disabled. Above select who can share, host only or all participants.

4. When on Zoom, begin sharing from the start screen icon at the bottom of the page.

5. There will be a pop-up menu asking you to choose what you would like to share, Desktop, iPad, or Whiteboard. If you select the Desktop and wish to play audio, make sure you check the box in the lower left corner.

Share Screen from iPad

1. If you choose iPhone/iPad via Airplay, you will be prompted to install something. Click install and quickly you will be lead to a new window to set up your iPad.

2. Follow the prompts on the screen to airplay your iPad. See the image below.

3. Then you are ready to share your iPad onto your laptop screen via Zoom. Share the apps you wanted to share and when you are done, tap the Stop Share button at the top of your device.

Students Sharing their Screen from an iPad

Now....what if you want students to share their screen from an iPad?

1. You will need to go back to the Zoom settings to make sure you have allowed for all participants to share.

2. Students will see a menu bar at the top to "share content."

3. Select "Screen."

4. Select Zoom, turn the microphone on and then Start Broadcast.

5. When your student is finished, they will need to swipe down from the right corner of the iPad screen to get to the Control Center. From there they can touch the red record button and the screen sharing will end.

We hope this is helpful. Reach out via email, text, or phone call anytime!
